HERE I STAND.
GERMAN PROTESTANTISM IN THE 20TH/21ST CENTURY
FILMS FOR SCHOOL,
UNIVERSITY,
AND EDUCATION
1521 became the founding myth of Protestantism: That was the year the monk Martin Luther refused to recant his anti-papal and anti-church writings before the emperor, the empire and the church at the Diet of Worms. It was the birth of »Here I stand and can do no other«.
Where are the traces of this religion of conscience in the 20th and 21st centuries? Where have Protestants been courageous and contradicted the powerful of their time? Where has the Protestant Church conformed, been pusillanimous and cowardly? Why one thing, why another – and what role did faith play?
MAKING OF
Together with Michael W. Günther of Mind-in-Motion in Berlin and in cooperation with other partners, I produce short educational films in German and English about Protestantism in the 20th and 21st centuries. The films are based on current research and are 15 minutes long, making them ideal for use in schools, universities and educational work.
New films are produced regularly. They are accompanied by public events and additional materials. All films are freely available on this website and on other linked sites.
